The show SILVIA, directed by Stephan Gruss, with the choreographies of Sandrine Diard, celebrates a prestigious four times anniversary:
-the 240th anniversary of the invention of the riding circus by Philip Astley
-the 160th anniversary of the Gruss dynasty
-the 40th anniversary of the National Alexis Gruss Circus
-and… last but not least, Alexis Gruss’ 70th birthday!

This 40th show pays a tribute a tribute to Silvia Monfort, great theatre actress, manager of the Cultural Action Centre in Paris and famous director. She played under the direction of Jean Vilar and took part in the the creation of the Avignon Festival in 1947.
40 years ago, the meeting of Silvia Monfort and Alexis Gruss led to the birth of the National Alexis Gruss Circus. Together they also created the first circus school in France in the former club of the Gaieté Lyrique. They also worked for circus to be recognized as a full cultural show under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture.

-The splendid tight-rope trick of Maud Florees, up high in the big top
-The even bigger feat of horse juggling by Charles and Alexandre Gruss
-The numerous comic appearances of our clown duet by Tony Florees and Francesco Fratellini
-The exceptional and innovating tableau of 14 jugglers and acrobats
-The unavoidable female elephant Syndha in a new experience with her cornac Firmin Gruss
-This year the four young gymnast-acrobats have joined the show in the high-flying performances.
